Neotropis covers the area of all South America (excepting the southern edges that belongs to Antarctis) and in the north covers also the area of Mesoamerica including the islands in Caribbean. This floristic region has 35 endemic plant families. Neotropis has strong development attachments to the African part of Paleotropis.
