Americká zahrada (the American Garden) is situated in the forest Žďár under the view-tower Bolfánek about 2 km far from Chudenice (Western Bohemia).
It was proclaimed by the protected area in 1969. The arboretum was founded by the count Eugen Czernin in 1828 as the arboriculture of exotic ornamental trees and bushes.
Comprising of an area of 1.88 ha, it is situated in the elevation of 580 metres above sea-level. It contains more than 200 tree species which usually come from the North America and Asia.
One of the most interesting trees there is Pseudotsuga menziesii which was planted out in 1842. Its high is about 35 metres and the perimeter is more than 5 metres. The other unique plants are Liriodendron tulipifera subsp. integrifolia and Cornus florida.
