Family: Alismataceae Vent.
Distribution: This species has an almost cosmopolitan distribution – non-tropical areas of the Northern Hemisphere, and naturalized in Australia, New Zealand and South America.
Ecology: Grows in shallow water, on banks of ponds, lakes, canals, and in ditches, from lowlands to foothills. Flowers from June to September.
Description: Perennial herb up to 100 cm tall. The leaves are long-petiolate, ovate, the flowers in well-branched panicle, petals obovate, white.
