Family: Zygophyllaceae R. Br.
Distribution: Endemic species of Macaronesia – the coastal zone of Madeira, the Canary Islands and southern Morocco, Western Sahara and Mauretania.
Ecology: It grows in sandy and rocky places and on cliffs of coastal areas – a halophilic plant. It blooms from January to June.
Description: Low shrub, 10–60 cm tall. The leaves are fleshy, succulent, cylindrical, green or yellow, the flowers are pink, tiny. The fruit is a capsule.
